Liz B: The store had 3 employees, no customers, yet none of them were even slightly motivated in assisting. When one of them finally acknowledged my existence, he pointed towards a corner of the store to find what I needed. After asking for clarification THREE times, he finally walked to the area and assisted. A little more enthusiasm is needed when dealing with customer needs.

Richard Jorge: As of April 28, 2021, I requested a leak quote for my swimming and as of today have not heard anything from Pinch a Penny. If this is the response I'm going to get then I will go find someone else. Unacceptable!

Fabio Cabrera: Attentive staff. Prices are ok. Rarely any parking, but there are 3 spaces exclusive to the store. Wait for specials, if possible. Store is not visible at all from the street. Hidden in a narrow shopping center.

A K: This is the best pool squad in town. I’ve tried several companies to help with my pool’s maintainence and its SO HARD to find people in Miami who are professional, care about what they do, and go the extra mile to have amazing customer service. Everyone in the store is so friendly, I look forward to walking in every time I go. For monthly pool service, they are always on time and never miss a week. If you want to take pool maintenance into your own hands, they will help you every step of the way. They legitimately like to educate people on pool care. If you need a new motor, robot etc, they only sell top of the line equipment. There are cheaper vendors but you’ll lose money with them in the long run when your pool goes green every week because they don’t follow through on any of their promised services or “guarantees”.

Nancee Bingenheimer: I really can't say enough amazing things about this place. The owner Alejandro is absolutely nice when I moved into my home he went above and beyond to come out and show me and label all of our pool equipment help familiarize me with it. After that I continuously gone up there to have our water level checked in the staff has always gone above and beyond. Jessica is phenomenal and recently I've been working with Chris. Chris wow 10 stars! This young man is not only extremely knowledgeable, but probably one of the most polite and respectful people in Miami! He always promptly calls me back he always answers my question listens to me and my comments and concerns, and everything is always met so politely! I've recently had some issues with the pool and Pinch a Penny has been helping me above and beyond expectations of the last 48 hours! I really appreciate all of their help, professionalism, and knowledge! I look forward to continuing to work with them!

Peter M: Love this place!! They are patient, helpful, and attentive to all your needs. Alejandro, the manger, took the time to look at pictures of my pump and help me figure out what I needed to do. Scott Brandon: I wish I knew about this place a long time ago! In the past I used to go to Home Depot for my pool needs, but I was never happy with the service or the selection. Employees here are great because they know a lot about their products – if you come and show them a picture of your pool they can tell you what to do.

Very professional and kept me updated with the details and finally she was able to have my tank replaced. She is a great asset for the company. Without her, I would of give 1 star. SE DESERVES 5. I had visited the store earlier and Mike had patiently listen to my needs especially living with a elderly mother wanted something she could enjoyed. His recommendations were great and even provided a written quote, no sales pressure. When I returned almost six weeks later Edwin took care of me since Mike wasn’t working and he honored the price on a different model. He was very courteous and professional. No pressure and a fair price. Looking forward to receiving my spa.

If you really want quality pools and the best treatment, look for another place. Now my pool is broken and they don't want to return my money either. please read the receipt well, especially on the back where it says no refunds. I wish the best for the future costumers.

becspot: Will never do business with this company again. The 2 stars given are for the installers who worked so hard to put up the large pool. Bought over a $10k pool system selecting items my husband and I both wanted and items we were told we needed for a 15x30 above ground pool by a "28 year veteran" pool saleman. In trying to understand why the item wasn't delivered and installed, we spoke to the owner "president & ceo" of the company Edwin. What a vile, disrespectful person who we regret giving our business to. Via phone, he continuously spoke over me yelling and insulting me constantly, told me I'm not getting anything I didn't pay for even before trying to understand where we were coming from. First, no one said anything about not paying for anything so why he ignorantly assumed that speaks to his lack of professionalism and common sense. We simply didn't understand why his salesman said we needed to purchase the item that was going to help our pool last and ordering it...to not getting it. Believing we were charged for it the item, we were upset that the installers said it wasn't delivered on site and they would have to return the next day, delaying our install (which was delayed anyway when we were told it would be a one day install, another lie). The owner president and ceo Edwin could not have been more unprofessional and childish than he was. We will never be back and if we could return the pool and not give him a dime of our business we would. If your interested in an above ground pool purchase, go to Above Ground Pool and Spa & BBQ off W31st in Hialeah or somewhere else where you will hopefully be treated as both a valued customer and human being.

Mark West: Acceptable service until something goes wrong then they blame you. Pool water tested and put in recommended chemicals as instructed. Destroyed some equipment due to corrosion ($450 damage). Worst part is they always try to blame the customer. Didn't investigate or ask questions - immediately condescending attitude. Customer: idiot who doesn't know anything about pools Them: can do no wrong. I would be careful doing business with them esp any major purchases. Life is too short for type of aggravation

Ryan Keon: Family owned and above and beyond the absolute best customer service and friendly help offered to home owners whom manage their own pool. I know when I bought my first home the pool plumbing was a mess and a couple quick photos and they walked me through how to reconfigure it. Now on my current home I am going to upgrade to a Sand Filter and it’s the same deal, super helpful, tons of info and never once, not a single time in 6 years of going in here did anyone ever try to sell me on anything I didn’t absolutely need. I trust that I will always be given the best advice possible every time I walk through the door. I am grateful to them! Edit - I’d like to add that I had an issue with a leaking valve on my Sand Filter about 2 years after I installed it. James (owner) was fantastic. We tried a few things - seal, locking collar, etc before her got me a new valve. James even took the time on a Sunday to come to the house and we took it all apart together just to be sure I wasn’t overlooking something. In the end he ordered me a nee valve and that solved it. Again I say to anyone whom owns and maintains their own pool the entire staff here actually takes care of their customers. Great people and thank you to James for always going above and beyond. The kids thank you for bringing back the Popcorn post-COVID!

Charles Rodriguez: I have been to all pool supply locations in my area which are about five. This is the only pool supply store that I could say they are not out to sell you something you don't need. I have tested my pool water every time before going there and they have the same reading. Sometimes it could be a little off but its normal. All the other pool supplies including other pinch a penny are always off by a lot. Leads me to believe they are just out to sell you products. All the staff I mean all the staff are great people. You always feel welcome. I've had issues with stains in my pool and Manager James has gone far and beyond my expectations helping me to finding what was causing it and how to remove the stains. I'm not the type to right reviews but when is well deserved I do. All I could say if you need a pool supply store that's not out to take your money go to this pinch a penny. Believe me you wont regret it even if you have to drive a little more. Thank you very much because today is very hard to find honest people...

Steve Ventura: I cannot speak to the service of this company. I never had the opportunity to form an opinion. If you can get passed the receptionist maybe the service is worth it. The guys in the stores are good. I wanted the service and after some time, many, many phone calls and a frustrating conversation with the receptionist. Probably for the best. Whatever starts well ends well. Good Luck
Michael Espinal: First I had to chase this place down to finally come to my house to change a pool filter and a small valve. They missed the first appointment, had to call and then reschedule. Made me miss two days off of work. Then they missed the appointment AGAIN and hand to reschedule and miss a THIRD day off of work. They promised me a discount and never gave it. Then I ask for them to give me a price quote on replacing my pool light, they tell me someone is going to call me on a specific day, they never called. Then they finally call randomly to offer me an appointment more than a week later to just LOOK at my pool light. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. NEVER AGAIN.
Brad Young: Extraordinarily bad customer service. Zero effort to resolve my issue with a recent gift card purchase. After waiting in the store for nearly 45 minutes for store owner Raymond Ibarra to get out of a ‘meeting’ he told me no refunds allowed but that he would call corporate and would let me know. Told me to call him next day. I’ve called now 8 times for 5 days in a row. Raymond hasn’t called me back. Employees have said he hasn’t showed up for work or that he’s in and out and are not sure when he will be back. Excuse after excuse. This man has no honor and is not ethical. The clerk never informed me that the gift cards are non-refundable or I would have given my father-in-law cash instead of these cards. Extremely frustrating

Abele Barreiro: If I could give zero stars I would. I had an 11 to 1pm window. At 1 pm I called to ask where the tech is. They tell me someone will call me back. At 2 pm I call them after receiving no call back. They tell me that they called me back at 1:04pm ( witch I have no missed calls ) and could not get a hold of me so they considered it a no show. How am I a NO SHOW 4 minutes later. Then I asked if they left a message because if they did I would give them the benefit of the doubt. They tell me that they could not leave me a message. After wasting 3 hours of my time and canceling on me they did even try to apologize for the inconvenience. Then try to reschedule me for another 11 to 1 window. How can I trust them to show up at all much less on time. Personally I believe they were running late and bummed me off the schedule not to be late any where else.

mkarla garcia: This place has the worse customer service I have experienced, they are not client-oriented and do not care about anything after they sold you the product. We bought a Hot Tube on Saturday, that weekend my family had an issue, and Monday we called the person who sold it, Victor Gonzalez who said he will help us. We kept going to the store and our reply was to wait for the manager that will be the one to help us. Finally, on Thursday we spoke to him and explained our case. He didn't even try to understand he just said that if we canceled we will lose the deposit. We didn't even know they had this policy because Victor didn't even explain it to us when we bought it. We tried talking and telling them that we needed that money back and that we tried canceling less than 48 hours later for a hot tube that is set to arrive on Dec 23 (6 months later). I find it unbelievable that a company like this will have such unfortunate customer service that is not able to get to an agreement over something that is not even ordered yet and where they won't lose any money.

paul martin: I have a home in SoBe. I tried to use Pool Palace for about 6 months. As time progressed the pool became greener and greener. I would contact the owner and he would say "It rained this week" or "There were dangerous storms" or "You have too many backyard trees". I asked him to leave calling notices but he never complied. He took the pool cleaning very lightly and just was not reliable. He was always on time in billing me weekly, but he showed up less than half the time for cleanings.

S. Pz: I went in for chlorine, it had been awhile. I noticed the chlorine doesn't smell like chlorine and when I spilled some on my hand it didn't feel hot. I went in the following week because I saw a small algae spot they said oh you need to use a few tablets plus 3 jugs. I never had to do that before so are they watering down the chlorine? I also noticed the store doesn't smell like chlorine. I want to support the local merchants but their chlorine doesn't seem to be the same as before.

Annie B: I was first very disappointed for the owner not keeping his promises and I had posted a unsatisfactory review. I have to be honest and brought the one star to a 4 star only because I should have not put my concern in this review. But after my unsatisfactory review the owner really took the initial to address the problem with my pool that I had resurfaced 7-8 months ago with him where the diamond brite was coming off and pool wall was rough. He did send his people to take care of the rough areas inside the pool. The pool is much better and he will send his guy again to finish the remaining roughness once this rain stops. But I’m somewhat satisfied that the owner finally took care of my concern. So far so good. I’ll put a follow up on my pool progress once the remaining pool wall roughness which most of it was taken care off by the owner has been solved. But again so far so good, the owner stepped up and started taking care of the problem

brio last: Most employees are nice, although very knowledgeable and professional. Previous ownership had the guys bring and help load the chlorine jugs into the trunk, which is nice when you are buying 6+ jugs at once... Not that it is really crucial, but it showed customer service went the "extra mile" back then.... It would not hurt to train the staff so EVERYONE is nice and customer oriented -specially with so much competition (online, home depot, leslie's, etc)

Daniel Rivera: Decent pool products but horrible service. Most employees will give a painful sigh when they have to help you, stare you down, or they will most probably ignore everything you say including questions and comments about your pool. While there are a few bad apples, there are some great employees who go out of their way to help you get the best products and excellent advice for your pool. If you go here as much as I do, you eventually find out who to go to and who to avoid. :)

g martinez: Some of the staff are nice. I paid $175 dollars for someone to come and shock my pool. The person didn't do a great job and he didn't add a table to the pool. The water didn't get 100% clear and when I came to the store to made a complaint the supervisor told me that the pool looked ok. I told him it was not clear 100% percent and he still said in his eyes the water was clear. I also mentioned that the filter was super dirty when I took it out and he said they only clean the filter one time when they do the shock and they dont need to do anything else after they come 3 time because the pool should be clear by that time so since my pool was not 100% clear I ended up having to put my own table chlorine and my own chlorine to make it 100% clear. And I ended up having to clean the filter myself and putting my own vacuum to finish the job. The point of me paying $175 was to get the pool clear 100% but now I am negative $175 and I have to finish a half way job.

Poetic Law: Before I express my displeasure, I would like to say that I have never had a complaint against Pinchapenny and they were my preferred pool store, but I feel that sometimes in writing or sharing a bad experience others can learn something from it and a positive outcome can come out of it. In saying that I would like to share this experience. I paid around $100 for the PORPOISE MODEL 320 SEE-THROUGH IN-LINE CHLORINATOR and paid for Pinchapenny to install it. A few months before the warranty expired, the black hose that’s attached to it started leaking to where water was shooting out of it. I spoke to the owner of the store and told him about it and he said that the part is free, but that it’s going to cost $150 to send someone out to fix it. I told him that that’s more than what the chlorinator cost and if it’s still under warranty that I don’t think it’s right that I should have to pay. I know it’s a business and it’s his store, but I disagree with having to pay to fix a part that’s defective and still under warranty. I ended up ordering the part on Amazon for around $7 and put it on myself in about 10 mins. Let me add that the owner did end up going down on the labor amount to $95, but it was still too much. As a business owner, I don’t think that it’s smart or worth losing a faithful customer over $150.
Lucinda Smith: This store has the worst customer service! There is no ownership when you raise a concern and they blame everyone else (earlier crew, the owner, the manager, etc. ). Absolutely terrible and has gotten worse. They do not care about their customers or about keeping your business. I will start driving the extra distance to go to another pool store!
