Culmer Overtown Branch Library: what do users think?

Jay Elwood: This particular library is located within the facility known as Gibson Park. It is a relatively small library, though it is large in stature due to the relatively small number of people that visit. You have easy and fast access to all resources due to the small number of patrons. The staff is attentive, the computers are usually available, and the library is unusually quiet. This library is comprised of an adult and children's section. What this library may lack in actual materials, it makes up for in availability of resources. JE

Christi Vinson: Dear Mr. Derek Blassinggame As an African American 1st and foremost you and I both know that's overtown do you need a bulletproof to the library no I doubt it that is a bit far fetched now to move the library from there would be depriving underprivileged children of something that other kids have within their community. Now instead of shaming and calling a library a dump shame on you . In all of Miami how did you end up in a library overtown. Nonetheless let's up lift our children try that.

Derrick Blassingame: What a dump! This location is in a historic Black neighborhood. It's located in a shabby, run down playground/sports arena. The staff are nice nasty and semi knowledgeable about basic technology. The security is a complete puffed up joke [ALLIED UNIVERSAL] and the kids are outright disrespectful to adults. Black folk should demand more from their government and ask for a new building, upgrades and a possible relocation of the branch to attract more patrons. I'd definitely return but with a bullet proof vest and a body camera.

Coraima Mesa: This is supposedly a library, but when you walk in it sounds like a playground. There are kids yelling at each other playing games and running around to play. If you try to talk to Candice (who says she's the manager and overseer of 2 branches) she says they are kids and they are allowed to do what they want. If we do not teach children the rules of a library (especially in this area) how are they supposed to learn to follow rules, be respectful, or be courteous to other people. ** The male manager of this branch is amazing, but still it's hard for 1 person to control a room full of yelling kids when he's the only one who tries to enforce it. (He is the only reason I didn't give a 1 star)

RS Wright: No windows, bars and barbed wire. Incredibly limited and small book selection, very limited resources. Computers for public use are all clustered together in one tiny area, not separate like all other libraries. There are no work stations for those that bring their own laptops like other libraries. The patrons leave a lot to be desired - loud cell phone conversations chalked full of "colorful" language, using the shared computers in a study area to watch movies or YouTube loudly without headphones or loud inappropriate conversations with each other. Was once "entertained" by a couple making loud slurpy kissing noises as they made out in the library. Pretty good example of social disparities and inequality to visit this library and then others in close proximity. This place is just depressing.

victor hall: This library is a great place to go and I enjoy spending time here. It is clean, quite, and extremely large. I can find nearly every book I search for, and the staff is very nice and knowledgeable. My only problem is the parking.

Rachel Jenkins: I always have great experiences with this library. Although it's a smaller library, I normally order what I need from the main one and pick it up here. The staff is great and goes above and beyond to assist you. I hope it remains in the Overtown community.

Kathleen Quinn: Small but close to 🏠 home. Good selection of books and an adaquite amount of computers

Dave Salmon: If you are in the Overtown area, check out this library. Right outside the library is Gibson Park.

Barbara Greger: Great place as a library

Main Library: what do users think?

Manuel Hernandez (Manny): I was delighted to find the variety of titles in Spanish in the public library here. I got my card today and intend to make use of this amazing public service. I am glad that it’s available to all of us.

Tia Seeall: The library system can improve for their patrons. Please add fax machines to your services allowed! Make sure vagrants are monitored because a difficult situation can occur for patrons if these people can choose to attack.

Yolanda Mendieta: Is excellent place for everybody, very secure with cameras, police, quiet place and they help a lot to the kids servings tutoring, books advisers, very nice and educated people I am being around this place with my kids for more than 13 years....I CAN SAY THIS IS MY SECOND HOUSE FOR MY AND MY KIDS, plus the library is located in the heart of downtown with all access transportation around you. CAME IS FUN WITH A LOT ACTIVITY AROUND.

J C: Great staff, helpful too. This library is spacious and filed with lots of resources. Only suggestion is their hours should be until 8 like the sister branches.

Alexander Burg: Beautiful public library in downtown Miami. Very quite place. The libraríans are very helpful too.

Carlos René Cruz: I loved my experience at the library. I just moved to Miami a year ago and when I discovered the great options that the library offers to the users I was gagging. You can borrow 30 books at the same if you want and take them home with you! They have a big selection of books, documents, newspapers, magazines and more, in several languages, as Miami is. You can access to the technology sources with laptops, computers, iPads and projectors if you need them. The place is quiet, big enough to have your own space and navigates between all the universes of the books that you have on hand with them. You just have to create an account and They will give you access to all you need. And the BEST.....Everything is FREE! 💓

Dave Salmon: This is the main library. It's the biggest library in the Miami-Dade Library System. To get there, take the Metrorail to Government Center. You can also take the 11, 51, 77, S, 120, 207, or 208 bus to Government Center.

Nata H.: Very big library with lots of choice. Very big Spanish department and classic books from international writers. Big department for kids and teens. They even gave lunch (some sandwiches I guess) for free when we were there. Only negative that there are too many homeless people..

Beverley McKenzie: They are very helpful at the Library. Whenever you need to know anything about the computer, the scanner, the printer, how to use the computer etc , they are always very helpful & co- operative. It is a pleasure going to the Library. These people that work there are committed.

Avi Haller: Kendall Library. The place is clean and wonderful, but a lot of noise, people speak by cell phones inside the library, Some employees speak in high voice all the time and disturbing the quiet environment. It will be wonderful if somebody show the employees the good manners to be in a library.

Yolanda Mendieta: Totally new and fresh. Kids can enjoy books, computers, and you can have a quite and relax time with your books. I love library because is a place where can dream.

Kelly Goodwin: Cute little library! Small but clean and great customer service.

Dave Salmon: I went there on June 29, 2020. You can take the 36 bus to NW 18 Ave and walk one block south on NW 18 Ave to NW 35 St.

Jennifer Julie: I have been going to this library since I was a child in elementary back in 2010, It is now 2021 and I am now finding myself still coming here and bringing my younger siblings along! This is my favorite place to study, the atmosphere is soothing, calm and welcoming!

Brigitte G: The lady at the front desk was very pleasant & helpful. She deserves a raise.

JayDee Mullins: Very friendly staff, clean and helpful. Spacious and covid guidelines in effect. Will definately return

nadia mclaughling: It's the best Library for years and it very convenient. It's also close to my house.

West Flagler Branch Library: what do users think?

Ivan Frank: This was one of the last libraries to be renovated before the pandemic and it shows. Beautiful clean lines, a lot of natural light, and safe restrooms for all to use. Staff is bilingual and they feature a large selection of books in Spanish. Tons of computers for public use, parking spots outside that allow you to use the wifi. What's not to love!? Go "check out" your local library today

Y.: This is the 'little library that could' in all aspects. They make its limited sauce footage for so we all feel included and can identify with their diverse, cultural and creativity programs. I look forward to seeing flourish further under the expert and compassionate care of its current staff members. ESpecially manager Brent Capley and right-hand staffer Erika ! But all others in teams are equal gems. Grateful for all they do for our local community.

Carlos Nethersole: A big and noisy staff in a small facility. They should close their office door so we dont see thru and we dont hear whatever they say. Again they should reduce the staff. Too many ppl. Reduce the noise, increase the productivity. Lets go brandon. This is a library. Sshhhh

manos de esperanza: Is a good place to studio. They change the tables and put plus for electricity , before its diddn't have it and it was difficultvto connect

Dave Salmon: I went there on September 17, 2020.Nice location. To get there, take the 11 bus to 50 Ave.

Harold Del Risco: Great place to use the internet! This branch is a big help for my internet needs. The staff is very helpful and understanding. Very pleasant environment. Love this Library!

Jazmin Lazo: It is smaller in comparison to the other libraries, however, staff is very helpful and maintain a clean environment. I would recommend it to anyone. I only have gone to use the WiFi to study and it doesn't seem to have that much of a broad selection of books but it is a great library in general.

Mike Vietz: Funny how the staff all seem to step out of the office from deep sleep. A stank attitude by the dark hair medium length veteran librarian looking lady. I don’t understand why the cleaning lady which do not do much all day- she also lounges/sleep in the office- has a shift from opening to 10pm. Shouldn’t 4hr overnight suffice, and light cleaning if necessary during the day by the rest? What a waste of taxpayer money...

Mike Vietz: Why a staff of 6 people for such a small location? Are tax payers footing the bill for this??? Otherwise, great location, very quiet. Not many patrons during the couple of days I spent here. The 2 guys and short lady with red tshirt seem bored and pay a bit too much attention to people trying to get stuff done. At least in my case. Maybe the wandering eye from female patrons makes them jealous.

Wendy James: Windows 10 and clean new Computers.Intelligent and Knowledgeable Librarians; Contributing and Participating in your Community Development is important.

Fairlawn Branch Library: what do users think?

Roberto Vizcon: Very nice library branch. Pleasant surroundings. Helpful staff. Plenty of computers on site. Nice unisex bathrooms. Plenty of parking.

A R: Excellent service, employees very helpfull and nice. Good experience.

Dave Salmon: I went there on July 16, 2020. To get there, take the 8 bus to SW 64 Ave. This is the only library located in West Miami.

Arturo F: Internet speed was awful while using WI-FI, less than 5MBPS, I had difficulty measuring its speed. I could not even ping at times. Staff is great, but wew, I had to go to a Starbucks to use WI-FI.

Javier yanez: The women's who works there are sexist, and are very paranoid.bad treatment from them, and they profile people too.I have was discriminate from women's who work there.they said I wasn't allow to look around or stretch my body from set too long.they don't like men like me.because sexist feminist women like them think all men are dangerous with bad intentions.they false accuse me for bad things, and made up story against me.the people who work there are not good people, they are fake people, one of the worker there stalk and profile people from a room that has windows, with door along side, from camera.they harasse pick who they don't like.i only went there to read book peacefully, and to see good book.and feminist accuse me for being peaceful and call law enforcement on me.they want to destroy or kill my life.im civil person,I don't act bad behavior,or lose my cool or anything.the women's profile me from libary there committed crime against me,and hate crime on men and lie about me.they deserve to be In jail for that.but of course there's no justice in United states corrupt corporation company.i tell you don't go that libary, this can happen to you,Warning you, they will profile you,it's a bad negative energy in that libary.they think they are above anyone, make up rules.the constitution is supreme law.

Jany Lopez: Best library in town ☺️

Ligia Rivera: Worst library to study... the librarians are loud..they don't care..and when you ask them to low their voice ...they get mad at you!!! :(If you need silence to study...I don't recommended this branch...

Maria Rodriguez-Larrain: They are very welcoming! And the have opened their doors for our book club meetings.

Vanessa Bl: love this library and the staff that work there are very helpful :)

Peter Dominguez: Great to study compared to Starbucks and Barnes & Noble

Coconut Grove Branch Library: what do users think?

Dave Salmon: I went there on July 2, 2020. Nice area. Nearby is Miami City Hall. To get to the library you can take the Miami Trolley Brickell route and get off at Miami City Hall and then walk west on S Bayshore Drive to McFarlane Rd. Make a right and the library is on the right. You can also take the 22 bus to S Bayshore Drive and Pan American Drive.

Maria Behar: This is a small, cozy library, with great reading areas! When I arrived, I noticed they had a book sale going on, and I immediately saw, and grabbed, two titles I'd been wanting to buy for several months now -- "Peter and the Starcatchers", and "Peter and the Shadow Thieves", both co-authored by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. These are retellings of "Peter Pan", one of my favorite childhood fairy tales! I couldn't believe it! The library was selling hardcovers for $2.00 each, and I wanted both books, but only had exactly $2.00 in change. That's because I haven't used real money to pay for stuff in the loooongest time; I use my credit card for EVERYTHING, and I buy mostly online. But at these library book sales, you gotta pay cash. They won't take credit cards. Fortunately, a very nice librarian there told me it was okay, that she would take my $2.00 in quarters, dimes, and nickels, for BOTH books!! THAT absolutely made my day, and I told her so! I mean, these were BRAND NEW hardcovers! They didn't look used AT ALL!! And they were each signed, too!! "Starcatchers" was signed only by Dave Barry, while "Shadow Thieves" was signed by both Barry and Pearson. I could NOT believe my good luck! I mean, these books were just sitting in that library, waiting for me to come along and snap them up! And, thanks to that nice librarian, who understands how a bookworm feels when coming across such unexpected good fortune, I was able to get not one, but BOTH books!!! I paid for them, found a comfortable seat right near a wall outlet so I could keep my cell phone charged, and settled jn to begin reading "Starcatchers" I spent a couple of hours reading. When I started getting a little hungry, I walked around looking for a restaurant. I finally found one, had lunch there, walked back to the library, and spent a few more happy hours reading! By the way, they have several wall outlets conveniently located throughout the reading area, so you can take your laptop and hook it up. They also have library computers. So yeah, I'll be back to this library in the future!!

Lamar Lee: Small but nice and clean place; the staff is nice and helpful if needed and it's located near a park for a nice view if you prefer to sit outside in the warm sun and fresh air. However, this isn't your traditional library; a quiet place you can go to read or work on a project etc. There's a fellow who is there pretty much all day every day and boy is he LOUD! I am literally sitting here writing this review with my earbuds at Maximum volume and I can still hear the bass in his voice bellowing over the audio. Maybe it's just me, but I'm old-fashioned and I remember anything over a hard whisper would get you "shushhhed" in the name of peace and quiet, but that's not the case here. Pretty annoying for the creative types who are easily distracted. Other than that - bring about 4 sweaters, 2 blankets, a hot thermos of coffee/cocoa and possibly cough drops. They keep it FREEEEZING in here! Flashbacks from TGK coming through 😅

Kandi Tailor: This library branch is small, clean and quiet. It is located in the heart of Coconut Grove opposite of Peacock Park. The people here have always been helpful and nice. They have children's section with great story time. The place has computers, and it is air-conditioned.

Oscar Picon: Krystle is the only person that has librarian knowledge. Please give her help in this branch. She make the experience much easier for parents

Julie Heath: Love this place. A semi-wooded area, and the building itself is basically a bungalow. Old Miami style. I take the little girl I nanny here ALL the time. If you have kids, be sure to check out their storytimes, they're phenomenal. Stories, songs with hand motions, and BUBBLES. Highly recommend!

CMJH Online: What a difference a year makes! Check the date of the review before making any decisions to go to this branch. This was a cute place a year ago, but it has fallen into disuse by book readers and is more or less a shelter. Don't try to donate books - tedious and unpleasant process.

Paulina M. Leon: Nicely located library close to Coconut Grove Center, the bay and playground. It is very basic and rather small, with few computers and a reading space. The kids section is separated from adult and has a decent selection of books and media. Even some toys. The children's librarian is very helpful and nice, but the space needs a bit of a renovation.

srb howell: An awesome branch. Small but very typical of quaint Coconut Grove architecture. Rather like a treehouse, with a veranda that appears to go almost all the way around. Inside there are windows and louvers that surround and vegetation beyond. My kids call it the lizard library... But fear not, all the lizards are outside enjoying the fresh air.

Walter Guzman: Wonderful Place

Patrice Steele: Rude worker at this branch. August 16, 2021. I returned material to the library. And was treated very rudely by your front desk employee. Because I ask didn't ask For a receipt before I scanned the items to be returned. Well how was I supposed to know? I like to point out in the past it never mattered either before or after whenever I asked for a printed receipt. The manger of this branch handle the situation. But at the moment I m' done with the public library I didn't have to be treated like this.

Elizabeth Myguguleboo 0.o: Sometimes there are many homeless people laying around the entire front of this library. Makes for safety and health issues. Other than this it is an OK library.

Dave Salmon: I went there on June 30, 2020. To get there, take the 77 bus to NW 82 St.

Tia Seeall: Small library, very few computers. But I am able to take a small tablet home for 30 days which is nice. As of right now printing is free! I printed 18 pages free of charge. I don't know for how long though so before you visit call to ask. Must have a miami dade county public library card or sign up for a free one with the necessary documents; the card is needed to use the printers, computers, scanners, check out books and materials etc.

garcia beckford: The person at Customer care was very Nice 👍

Larncy Rolle: Exceptional except for 1 time one of the new staff was not customer oriented. All other visits has been very courteous and professional. I also am excited about the new application where you can go on line and from your e-mail you can send documents to the printer and just go into the branch and print the documents that was sent via e-mail. Great job, way to go Miami Dade Library staff. Things are improving and it shows.

Frannie Dee: Very courteous staff, even the security guard who shushed me when I was talking too loud, just like when we were taught to behave in school. They make sure masks are kept up.

Greg McClendon: I noticed how well one of the Branch employees handled herself when dealing with a patron who did not know what a password, ID, nor email address was and wanted to sign up to work at a polling booth. Kudos to that young woman!

Lawrence Tyler: Very helpful staff. Clean environment, and I highly recommend this library.

Betty Blu: I am so eternally greatful to the Miami Dade Public Library system for all the support they provided us during the summer break. My son is afflicted with Autism. He is nonverbal and is about 4 years behind his other 8 year old peers. The staff at this library always had welcoming smiles. Never made us feel "different" and allowed for my son to continue his academic development during he summer. As a single mother of a special needs child, my budget is always tight. Thank God for the library's child lunch program. It was a blessing. May we always continue the public library system.

D R: Quiet, clean, available seating/ parking, wide selection of books for adults/kids.

Govinda Ghimire: Amazing place for kids and parents as well. Tons of books and activities. I can’t thank enough to the staffs.

Dave Salmon: The first time I went there was on September 16, 2020. I went there again on April 18, 2022 two years later. To get there, take the 8 or 24 bus to either the SW 97 Ave stop or the SW 93 Ct stop.

DinoTheArtworks: I am a big fan of MDPLS ever since I’ve been attending their online events back in December of last year. I decided to explore the libraries and this was one of them to explore. First of all, it is very big on the outside and inside. There is a first and second floor and as soon as you entered, the desk was to your left. The first floor was with study rooms and a large variety of books. Also, a vending machine. Everything was pretty quiet most of the time. The second floor was the same thing except there is a kids playing area and no vending machines. I went here a while ago so my review on how the library looks may be not accurate. The staff was nice and checked out my books without any problems. I said bye and went out the door happy. Recommend if you’re near the area and is either a bookworm or big fan of MDPLS like me.

Helen L: There were study tables available. There wasn't that much noise and the place is spotless. Great printers and wonderfully helpful staff.

gessicaj88: Was not allowed in children's area because I didn't have a child present with me. ?? Not welcoming atmosphere at all

LM: It is always wonderful to go there, the smell of books, the cleanliness, the organization. Now after the coronavirus you have to keep your distance and wear a mask all the time. The ground floor is literature for adults and the second floor for children. When the schools run the groups it is a bit uncomfortable to concentrate with the children. There is a vending machine with soft drinks and water and snacks. Membership is wonderful, free, you register and they give you your card to take the books free for 30 days. It is always pleasant to go there.

Marian Hernandez: As far as I know, libraries were for reading and everything related to reading, but all in silence, not for the tutors to teach kids and spend the day talking loudly. I think its disrespectful the amount of tutors who come here to teach the kids and they interrupt people who need to study or read in silence. If we don't have silence in a library, where will we have it? Tutors need to go elsewhere!

H O: The building is awesome. Variety of content. Old and clean. including the bathrooms upstairs. My only complaint is they need to have a responsible for kids area. Beacuse adult visitor bring kids and let them act like in a park. jumping, screaming, running. If they made people respect each other inside kids area. Can be perfect place to study.

Ingrid Pujol: This is a pretty large library in a convenient location and the facilities are always relatively clean and there is a ton of space to get work done. There are power outlets everywhere so finding a place to hunker down for the day isn't difficult. The hours are also great. However, I can't give this place 5 stars because, for some reason, the people who frequent this library have never seen a movie or tv show with the strict librarian who is always shushing the patrons. If you plan to study or get work done, be prepared to listen to people's skype conversations, and just a lot of talking and socializing in general. Out of consideration for people who use the library for what it's meant to be used for, I wish they had the staff reminding people not to talk in the designated quiet areas. I use noise cancelling headphones and can still hear chatter over them.

Hispanic Branch Library: what do users think?

Review SoFLa: Reading the comments about Customer Service 👀. It is very true since I've lived near this branch for almost 21 years. My best advice is to learn how to self navigate the kiosk so you don't need to ask for help. There is one Caucasian guy who is willing to help out if if you at least make an attempt to speak English, other than that you're screwed.

Misael Soto: Terrible service. Missing the amazing attention we used to get years ago at the old place (22 avenue) Moved close recently and tried several times and regardless the day and hours l was treated NOT like a long time Miami taxpayer, for City/County employees, whose salaries are coming partially from my paycheck. Despondent treatment, condescending, bad attitude(yes, that old lady behind the counter) I was addressed as a pariah, someone who don’t belong at the Public Library when I’m just a longtime City of Miami resident. I’ll repeat: it happened each and every single time I’ve paid a visit to Spanish Branch, which made me think feeling mistreated and unwelcome is a systemic issue.

Denise Sarabia: What a fantastic library this is!!! The staff is nothing short of phenomenal and so very helpful every time I go which is quite often btw!!! I am a total bookworm and I am always treated so special there as well as every patron there!!! It is always such a great experience for my seven year old boy who is totally enamoured with books as well!! They have great books on sale for kids and adults of all sorts next to the checkout counter. The soft covers are$1 and $2 for hardcovers and are so hard to resist because of the sheer quality and usually nostalgic books for my son and I to read. I always purchase children's books for our beautiful collection and maybe one day for my grandchildren as well!! I am so looking forward to reading to my grandbabies one day as well!!

Dave Salmon: I've been coming to this library since they opened this location in the summer of 2010. Their old location was at 2190 W Flagler St.

Alexander Molina: They are really nice every time I go they always try to help u and is very clean even the security guy is cool I like it thanks for the staff

LaVarrick Seoane: Been here a few times, and enjoy it for the most part. Usually pretty quiet. Today though was not so silent. I could barely concentrate due to the amount of noise. As if people don't know where they are, it is okay to ask for help, but to be just loud and disrupting and asking continuous questions is highly irritating.

carlosescotto7: Horrible experience!!!!!!!! Need some real customer service attention as soon as possible!!!!!!!! very nasty, there is a short lady of heavy complexion with black curly hair and glasses that acts as ,if the library belongs to her. She forgets that she is pay by the taxpayers, otherwise she won't have a job!!!!! plus the libraries are for the residents of miami dade county. otherwise, this people working at the libraries won't have a job!!!!!! The short heavy complexion lady with glasses even harrases people and scream everytime she speak rude and nasty!!!!! Not allowing people to study and concentrate, No consideration for the Miami Dade County residents!!!!!!!!! Horrible underated staff!!!!!!! Very poor manners and no education!!!!!!!!! On behalf of the staff!!!! Poor training!!!!!!! Spoken to senior management on behalf of this, but at this time I have not seen any changes!!!! ,Or progress!!!!!! Super Sad!!!!!!!

Laura Maria Ramirez: This branch is beautiful and cozy, attendants are kind and professional, pleasant environment, clean and ample bathroom space, convenient parking, great new movies to check out, convenient outlets to charge lap tops and phones. However, sometimes, librarians are loud when speaking on the phone and they allow people to bring food and drinks, put them on the tables and stay there forever eating and drinking. If it weren't for that, I would have given it five stars.

Monica Martinez: If you’re looking for a quiet place to study, this is not the place. You can watch movies without headphones, laugh as loud as you can and have your phone on loud. More like a place to chill.

Johanny Reyes: Ample parking. Staff and guest are too loud, no consideration towards others. Staff makes a lot of noise when arranging books/movies.

Richter Library: what do users think?

Pedro Martinez-Berrios: Good place for studying or meeting. The first floor or the rooms are great for group meetings, and the second floor is good when you need to focus. There is also a Grad lounge on the second floor.

Dave García: An excellent library, ideal for all sorts of research projects, study groups and presentations.

Roger a Marin: To begin with Ive been to both UM and FIU campuses. I would say overall UM campus is better as it gives you a more true university type experience. In terms of library I believe FIU is one of nicest libraries I have been to: in terms of sheer size (8 floors) , convenience( free guest wifi) starbucks on first floor, many group study rooms on each floor (can reserve online), as well as free weekend parking ( a quiet fact most people don't know). UM library is a lot smaller and just isn't at the same level even though UM academically is alot better than FIU. For sure for studying FIU library is one of best I have seen.

A S: Best kept secret at the U! Many great memories and long nights studying. The Circulation staff are top notch professionals and a true reflection of the fantastic diversity only Miami offers. I miss it and the staff dearly. It's where I met my lifelong friends Eduardo, Alex, Conrad, Cherilyn, Gale, Mark, Bob, Heidi, George, DJ Mike, Fidel, Arif, Nina, Yelli,Schlomit and God rest his soul Felipe.

Yu Ma: In the ground floor, you can experience great time to have a group study. On the second floor, it is quiet and super nice to have a self study day.

Robert Barnett: Great library for research and study.Has a much better academic feel than FIU.UM is a better academic University than FIU.Student body at UM is more focused on academics

Wei Ren: good environment

Chu Don: Best places for studying and reviewing on pre-exam night!

Alessio Buraggina: Nice library, tends to be fairly crowded

Ed Brown: Great place for research work.

City of North Miami Public Library: what do users think?

Dave Salmon: I went there on November 4, 2020. This is a North Miami library. It is not part of the Miami-Dade Public Library System so you can't use your Miami-Dade library card. You have to live in North Miami to get a library card. To use the computers, you must ask them first and they will help you. To get there, take the 19 bus to NE 133 St. The library is on the right. You can also take the 9 bus if you're coming from Downtown Miami and then get off at NE 131 St. Walk east on NE 131 St to W Dixie Hwy and then make a left. The library is on the left.

Lulu G: If you want a quiet place to study this isn’t the place. I’m studying for my broads test and it does matter what day or time I come there’s always noise. It doesn’t matter what part of the library you sit someone is always making noise.

Gwen Kunkel: This was my first time here. We recently moved to the area so I needed to get a new library card. The librarian was so kind and helpful. He explained to me the difference between the county and municipal libraries and helped me check out 4 books. They didn’t have the series that my fiancé is reading, so he ordered them all and is going to reach out when they come in! I highly recommend going here if you live in the area. All of the staff were professional and friendly. They do have limited hours currently because of Covid: 11-5 M-F.
Response: Gwen, once again welcome to North Miami. It was a pleasure creating your library card. We can’t wait to see you on your next visit!

mary-kate Sullivan: Although new to this library, from the moment I walked in I felt welcomed and surrounded by all good things a library offers. And it is directly across from North Miami High school! What an opportunity for those students (and teachers)!Happy reading and researching, online or off.MK Sullivan

Dark Lord Davi: Literally the worst library I have ever been to in my entire life. There’s a school across the street and once class ends kids/teens come and cause absolute CHAOS!!!!! It is almost impossible for me to study, read, or even pay attention due to the amount of noise. Security does absolutely nothing about the HORRIBLE behavior of the student that don’t even use the libraries resources!!!! Only come during weekends/summer break/ or when school is in session that is the ONLY time when this Library is stable.

Nakira Khadafi: I give this library 3 stars because they are well stocked on books and it's a nice and clean environment. But my 3 star rating is solely because the place does become extremely noisy and over run with children and the staff just doesn't seem equipt to handle the amount of children and the unruliness of the teens from the school across the street .. Better to use this library while school is in or on weekends.

SincerelyShey: Okay I know these ratings are straight lies. Realistically speaking this library is very very very loud due to the amount of teenagers soliciting there. Yes they are soliciting because they are not in the library for its resources. They just sit around and talking, yelling, running, cussing, horseplaying everywhere. I’m at this library at least 3 times a week and the kids are always there making noise. Security does nothing and staff does nothing. Kick them out PLEASE. On top of that, security says NOTHING to these kids that are shouting cuss words and making this a very uncomfortable environment but you better believe he will correct everyone one sitting awkwardly in a chair. Like this dude waves at the kids as they’re terrorizing the library. What kind of library is this? Shut it down.

Cher Pie: The staff is very nice and is ready to help with whatever the questions one may have. The library itself is clean, plenty of books to choose from. The only thing is, it can get loud at some point when I’m trying to study and get some work done. I want somewhere that I can study with peace and quiet, that would be really... after all, it is a library. 🤦🏾‍♀️🙄

Frannie Dee: Nov.2020 Covid-19 hours are still Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. wonderful staff. Very helpful. Automatic temperature check upon entry and hand sanitizer right up front. 30 computers available but only 15 in use for social distancing.

Naya J: This library is absolutely horrible. The librarians are extremely kind and nice. however they often kick people out of the library for doing absolutely nothing which makes it near impossible to actually enjoy the services of the library that is supposed to be for the public. Adults will be fine at this library. As for teenagers, don't bring them there since they might get kicked for doing absolutely nothing.

Pinecrest Branch Library: what do users think?

Your Helpful Wendy: This is going to be one of my two favorite public library. First of all is located in an area that I love which is Pinecrest and the parking was free, you know how much I love that! Second the service was fantastic everyone helped me and I feel super nice working there. And third, this library was very organized and I was able to work on the computer and then print as I usually do.

Shaunterria Owens: A beautiful place to work, with a gorgeous tree-lined parking lot and plenty of spaces (except for event days, get there early because parking may be scarce). The interior is well-lit and peaceful, even when buzzing with activity. One of busiest libraries in the Miami-Dade system and for good reason.

Kevin Harris: Great place to do some research and get a quick workout!

Green Shamrock: Saturday August 4 after 2:00pm we visited the Pinecrest Library in Pinecrest Gardens, it seems very well organized and the lady in the section on children was very kind, we are new in the neighborhood, my husband wanted to become a member, we headed June at the admissions window she was very rude and uncooperative. There was an excellent selection of books to buy, I chose 8 books, very good reading and collaborated with the library, again June or whatever it is called dark hair and glasses, beyond rude, the library does not receive credit cards in the era of Covid19 ,luckily I had cash, but June refused to give me change. I put down the books. I told her that she was not being friendly, that I did not feel welcome, she cared very little, she stayed like a statue of salt, she didn't look for any help in this regard, I will send a letter of complaint to the President of the library.

Zamir Iqbal: The best library in Miami... Excellent park and restaurant also within same complex

Dave Salmon: I went there on August 31, 2020. To get there, take the 57 bus to SW 59 Ave and walk east 440 feet to the library. The library is on the left.

Antonio B: Excellent Service! The librarians went above and beyond to help me out!

latinxduchess: Clean and has a good selection of books and movies. The chairs are not terribly comfortable for long term studying. The chairs are basic wood chairs with no support. Also, as has been mentioned plenty of times, it’s hard to get work done here without headphones to block out the sounds of the children running and screaming in the library. Also the main seating section is used as a private tutoring area in the afternoons so the area isn’t conducive for studying or reading with all the noise.

Yané Marie Sleppy: In terms of a library, it has a good selection of reading material, and the books are in fairly new or good shape. The language learning section is vast for a branch library, which impressed me. The staff seems to be on first gear. When I asked where the language learning materials were, the ladies looked at each other as if wanting the other to get up to show me. When I went to print something from the computer, there was no paper. I asked a lady, and she looked like I woke her up from a nap. (I know that she was awake. I'm just using that as a figure of speech). She directed me to the Information desk, where there was no one to be found. I asked another lady, and she wasn't looking like she wanted to help, either. If you are 100% self reliant and enjoy the echoes of little children's feet running (because there is no rug anywhere which creates amazing acoustics), then this library is for you. If you are comfortable with the slow pace of the staff, then please frequent this branch. I'd give this place only one star all for the dreadful quality of service, but the material selection made it a little better plus the fact that it's a decently clean establishment.

Scheznarda Nino: It is a super cool library, there r very cool book for kids and adults and there r Spanish books too and i love that I think it is super cool library.

Miami Beach Regional Library: what do users think?

Lazaro Gonzalez: don't ban our books! restrict our audio selection! or limit our dvd selections! it's enough adult sites are blocked when using the public wifi donate to ur local library!

Jennifer VanDerBas: Most amazing library I have ever been to. Charlotte and Brian are the most compassionate humans I have ever met!

Toni Locs: Anyone (homeless) can go to the library to read and educate themselves. There is nothing wrong with that.

Jeile Marie: Miami Beach regional library is a part of the online ordering books system. You can pull books from across the county if you are a resident of Miami Beach and registered with an account. During the week and day it is crowded and hard to find a chair to read.

Bethany Smith: Spacious, clean, nice. Will not return when in Miami. We didn't keep our masks over our noses and were told about it twice in 20 minutes. The only people we even came close to were the two "mask monitors" who sought us out. This is ridiculous for this virus we're supposed to be fighting and because nearly everyone in there had their nose out including 3 people who had NO MASK AT ALL walking in the vestibule. Publicly funded businesses should allow people to choose whether to mask or not. I find it terribly odd that no other comments mention mask wearing or monitoring. Stop monitoring and let people have the freedom of choice.

Kibo D: I love the location of this library. Yes homeless people are in almost every public library, so if you are prejudiced against people who cannot afford the cost of living and do not have easy access to showers then stay the hell out. I don't care because I am also homeless and the fewer the haters the better.

Dave Salmon: I went there on August 6, 2020. It is located next to Collins Park. To get there, take the S or 120 bus to 22 St.

Siarhei Losik: Only few computers available. Everything taken by homeless people. Game room. No power outlets for personal laptops. Personal rude and aggressive. They can easy rearrange tables and put plastic shields between. Too lazy.

Melissa: Such an awesome place. Big beautiful library, with fantastic, friendly librarians. Highly recommend!

Eurostar Namastar: Aside homeless and at times loud talking....this is a good building and good services....there are private rooms for quiet research, special events ....and every book available free or can be ordered! Still a great place to get a personnel education on any subject!

Dade County Law Library: what do users think?

George Odell: Very unfortunate that a large county such as Dade has such a poorly run law library. I would like to see this library moved into the public library where they have a good staff of service oriented professionals well equipped to assist the public.

GIGI Petit: I just encountered the worse customer service in my entire life, I was referred to the law library but a clerk in the civil office. I get upstairs and simply explain what I need, the front receptionist when in a book and started mumbling something and when I asked her to repeat it, she said maybe cause you wasn’t listening. Then threw the paper at me and said make copies and it’s 0.50 cents. I said well what paper is this cause she already said it but chose not repeat it, she that’s the paper go print it and it’s 0.50. I said well there is no need to be rude, I simply asked what is the paper. She said read, read the name, I asked how do I know if this the right paper? She said read it’s the right paper, another young lady comes to the front saying what’s the situation here. Didn’t even wait for my explanation she calls someone and say we have a situation and walks off. Now here come another lady with dreads asking what happen, while explaining she said well whoever told you that they are wrong we do not assist you with anything you are here to do research. Which is okay, it’s a library, if you can’t help me let me know you do not know what I am in need of and simply let me go find what I need. Instead this lady walked me down stairs to the office and tried to confront the clerk meanwhile she totally ignored when I said the lady was being rude and threw the forms at me. When all was said and done and the clerk supervisor came for support she informed me of the form I needed and in fact was the incorrect form the lady offered. It could have been a simple, I’m sorry we don’t assist with form, you are more than welcome to look around to see if you can find it and make copies. I would have went to my second option, I had my baby sleeping in my hand and was not going to walk the whole Library. If you are working with people, your customer service skills should be amazing, especially if you are working and getting paid by the government. I work for a company that see at least 800 customers a day and a partner speak to a customer as such yes it would be your last day. With that being said do not waste your time going to that office, it has an order and look exactly as the ladies attitude nasty.

Nicholas Porras: I have been coming to the Miami Dade County law library for years. The staff is great, I always feel like they are steering me in the right direction, it is like having a top notch legal assistant free of charge. Natasha especially has given me a great deal of help at the west law terminals. The best library in the coounty!

Arlene Belizaire: The staff at this library is always welcoming. If I have any questions, the lady will not only give me an answer but she will help me find what I need. Customer service like this is what makes me keep going back!

Yvonne castaneda: Would like to share a very unprofessional experience I had today at Law Library. I went to see the Pro Bono lawyer there, and front desk woman, who I found out is named Natasha was just a nasty rude person. This is not my first experience with her rudeness.but today is the day that I will complain. I waited patiently in law library, took about 45 mins, whi wh is fine, but, when I wanted to stand up for rest of wait,, natasha told me,,"is there a reason why you are waiting here? " By front desk,,,I said I was waiting for lawyer and I wanted to stand instead of sit. She then said well just get away from here , wait outside. While pushing her hands away. What I did observe is how her tune changes when a white male or female come up to her and ask her something. I am not one to insinuate anything regarding race,, but she definitely has an issue when a Hispanic woman approaches her. I am saying this because, as soon as I entered library, 2 other Hispanic woman were talking about the exact same thing. And I said I thought it was me. They said they tried to ask her a question and she brushed them off. I will make a point of finding her manager. She will not give her name, which I know she is supposed to if asked. I paid $ 2.00 for a form that I paid .$1.00 for a month ago.. so did she over charge me? And she didn't even sign receipt. I will follow up with this when I return. I am traveling today and will not let her miserable attitude ruin my vacation!!

Andre Pierre: I would like to thank the library director for being helpful, tactful and brilliant --all at the same time! She brought the library to new heights. Her staff is very professional and courteous.

S. Dulcio Florals & Design: I had one of the best experiences at the Law Library recently. The woman who helped me as knowledgeable and kind. She could tell I didn’t know what I was looking for but was able to guide me by asking the right questions.

Maria A.: I used to visit this library on a regular basis and many of the library staff (librarians) here were very rude to me. The only nice one I remember was the former Head Librarian who left to pursue a career in Country Music.

Rose M Darbouze: It was a pleasure for me to visit the building 175 todaycustomer service was excellent. The probate lady was very helpful.

Dafinie Garcon: For a library, I had a great experience. The staff was exceptional. Thank you for your service!

North Miami Beach Library: what do users think?

Izzy Jamill: It was a nice event. Wish I would of know about it too. I have a small hot sauce business. Check out my site piquemiami.com
Response: Thank you Izzy for the great review. Please follow us @NMB Library on Instagram & Facebook to learn about up coming events. Please send me contact information or I will look it up on your website so we can include you at our next event. So happy you enjoyed tonight!

Patty da Luna: The weather was very good .Many prizes.I won a raffle.Happy day🤗
Response: Congratulations Patty! It was a beautiful day for the walk and we enjoyed sharing the fabulous vendors and donations. Did you try the cafetera’s coffee? It was delicious!

Vivian Richards: The librarians and employees are always helpful. There's computers and tons of books. It's a good family environment and the air-conditioner is never set to low it's set just right to a nice chill. 👇 Instagram: @qwizrichards
Response: Thank you, for your kind review. We appreciate your time. Please feel free to share ideas on family programs and services that will impact you and your family to success!

Esther Felberbaum: The worst library - they're just out to get the little people. I returned all my books after hours at their book drop outside and they claim they never got them back. Now they locked my card and are denying my children the opportunity to read. We're new to the area and if I would have known the library is this disorganized I would have had someone return the books in person. Disgraceful!! UPDATE: I called the library about this, and apparently patrons are just supposed to KNOW that this library is not part of the MD County public library system like every other PUBLIC LIBRARY in every city I've lived in. They don't bother to tell new patrons that when you check out books here you must return it here. Doesn't say ANYTHING about this on their website, there is no notice hanging anywhere in the library about this, and the librarians didn't bother telling me when I got my card. Doesn't say anything about this on Google. Being a new resident of this city, I'm simply supposed to KNOW. DISGRACEFUL!!!!
Response: Ms. Felberbaum, we have received your concern and will have someone look up your transaction for missing books or returns to other locations. We strive to serve our public and will get back to you. Update- Ms. Felberbaum, As an update we learned through your call that our shelves and system are accurate. You mistakenly returned the books to a different library system. We are similar to NY and Brooklyn or Queens systems, close enough cities with different systems. In Miami-Dade County we have 5 different systems. Our website and building all display City name, City seal and City Library logo. The City of North Miami Beach is a municipal system. A visitor would know we are not part of Miami-Dade Public Library System because building does not say MDPLS nor does it use the County or MDPLS Library logo. Because you moved recently our staff and Circulation Supervisor tried to assist you by allowing you to check out 5 books at time until you A- go pick up the books from the City of Miami Gardens at MDPLS regional branch (were you dropped them off) and return them to NMB Library (where you checked them out) or B- Wait until MDPLS does their mail out of books that have been returned there by mistake. They’ve done so in the past. Once the books are return to the library the cost of the unreturned books will be lifted from your card. No overdue fines will be assessed as we were the first library system to lift fines in the county. I regret all confusion and distress you have felt. Please note NMB Library books as per our website should be returned to us or our bookmobile. NMB, Hialeah, North Miami, Miami Shores and Homestead MDPLS are independent systems. We do not share information and we follow up on patron’s mistakes via mail. Hope this helps you plan your visit. We hope our partial lift of your borrowing privileges as a courtesy allows you to continue reading. Happy Reading! UPDATE- Thanks for your visit to our Literacy Fair! You are in our promo video! NMB Library sent staff to the library you said the books had been returned to on Miami Gardens. They only had one book that was ours and sadly not one of yours. At the Fair you shared that there is no indication books must be returned at the Library where borrowed on our webpage. As promised, now that the Fair is over, that stipulation is found on the page as follows: https://nmblib.weebly.com/get-a-library-card.html I appreciate your correction from Miami Gardens Drive to Ives Dairy / Aventura as the location returned. Please check with them for your books. We may not be able to head that way for a while. Thank you, for your continued patronage while you correct the error of returns.

Maria Cristina Oria: Hispanic celebration at the library was a lot of fun. Beautiful activity .
Response: Thank you, Maria Cristina! Glad you enjoy our cultural events. Please follow us and share your ideas or concerns as we always want to grow!

Ninja Monkey: Such a great library that has inspired me to become an avid reader again. A great selection of books with nice comfy couch style chairs to sit and read. The staff is so nice and helpful, I really couldn’t ask for more from my local library. Thank you!
Response: Thank you, Ninja! Let us know your faves or ways we can improve to blow away all expectations! Have you downloaded music on Freegal yet?

Leah Lamou: I met Yolette at the library. She’s a superstar. She was so patient and helpful, always put a smile on her face when assisting you. She’s an asset for that place. I will gladly go back
Response: Thanks for the wonderful report Leah! Yolette is certainly a superstar that shines brightly! Do comeback and let us know if we can improve our service for you and your family.

Robert Montoya: Clean and quiet and the staff is friendly.I am specifically looking for computers to use and the ones here are outdated but good for small simple task.
Response: Robert, thank you for taking the time to assess our facility. We are always seeking input for improvements and technology is one of the most challenging. Would you be so kind as to share with me your goals, software or speed needs that can be improved? We will open our Work-Share space soon and your input may make an immediate difference. It is our goal to meet our community’s need!

Roxana Quispe: It is not often that we find people who really offer their time to help. One afternoon, we found a nice lady, working in the front desk, who was eager to help. In fact, all the librarians who work there are kind and helpful .

grace marinaro: Only place I know in FL still enforcing a strict mandatory mask policy even for those who have been vaccinated. Rude condescending security guard at the front door saying ‘can’t you read the sign’
Response: Grace, I am so sorry to hear the security guard spoke in that manner. Was it on the same day you wrote this? I would like to look up the name as it is an outside company. Totally understand the dislike for the mask mandate, unfortunately that is outside our realm of control. We must uphold city of NMB guidelines. Please let us know how we can improve.our services.

Law Library: what do users think?

Jobel Anthony Cabezas: Terrible sad excuse for a law library. For it size feels small/cramped, old and moldy air. I normally end up going to the FIU law library instead.

Leonardo Raez Junco: Really quite free access public library. Very open hours. Limited free parking lot, but there's more pay-by-plate. Not food allowed inside. There's a lot of outside tables for that.

c Andrade: I couldn't breath properly in this library. There might be a mold issue

Chavely Ortega: The best library !!!

South Miami Branch Library: what do users think?

Dave Salmon: I went there on September 2, 2020. Great location. To get there, take the Metrorail train to the South Miami Station. You can also take the 37, 57, or the 72 bus to the South Miami Metrorail station.

Jennifer Olmsted: In early 2000, I read at different times of each Month for about 4 non-consecutive Years, an important book to me. It was an Atlas of the World book, written by DK. I had the opportunity to read a book that helped me in Geography. Now, I in a Year am going to look for part-time employment as a dog walker, and tomorrow am going to bring in my own book to the Library that I bought at a local bookstore called Dogs for Dummies, by Eve Adamson. And read about a chapter or section a day during the week.

Doreen Sino: South Miami Library is nice place to do a little research, reading. Staff is so helpful.

Logan Wright: Not being a fan of large crowds or large libraries South Miami is my go to branch. It’s a great place to study. Staff is efficient and courteous. Also, it’s one of the few branches I’ve seen with a separate foreign film collection. This is an extra special treat for film buffs :)

Anupam Singh Chauhan: It is a good library overall. Near the metro station. Stays open on Saturdays unlike other libraries. But it has one small problem. The people who were here, when I was there, were not so silent like they are supposed to be. Most of the time they were quiet but there were bouts of noises. Oh and they don’t whisper while talking. And since it’s a public library you don’t need to be a member to study here.

Amy: Love that #UrbanOasisProject is running a new farmers market there Saturdays from 9-2...and they double SNAP dollars! #UOPmarkets #SMFM

Leonardo Raez Junco: Very quite, has a parking lot (not free). Restroom, water, vending machine. I've never seen it crowded.

van bethea: Valarie was very nice she help me very much.she made my vist a very good one

Jarrel O'donoghue: Great calm quick simple place to get your public library fix.

eric lingswiler: Fantastic staff, very friendly and helpful. A wonderful library.
