Culmer Overtown Branch Library: what do users think?

RS Wright: No windows, bars and barbed wire. Incredibly limited and small book selection, very limited resources. Computers for public use are all clustered together in one tiny area, not separate like all other libraries. There are no work stations for those that bring their own laptops like other libraries. The patrons leave a lot to be desired - loud cell phone conversations chalked full of "colorful" language, using the shared computers in a study area to watch movies or YouTube loudly without headphones or loud inappropriate conversations with each other. Was once "entertained" by a couple making loud slurpy kissing noises as they made out in the library. Pretty good example of social disparities and inequality to visit this library and then others in close proximity. This place is just depressing.

victor hall: This library is a great place to go and I enjoy spending time here. It is clean, quite, and extremely large. I can find nearly every book I search for, and the staff is very nice and knowledgeable. My only problem is the parking.

Kathleen Quinn: Small but close to 🏠 home. Good selection of books and an adaquite amount of computers

Dave Salmon: If you are in the Overtown area, check out this library. Right outside the library is Gibson Park.

Barbara Greger: Great place as a library

Main Library: what do users think?

Manuel Hernandez (Manny): I was delighted to find the variety of titles in Spanish in the public library here. I got my card today and intend to make use of this amazing public service. I am glad that it’s available to all of us.

Tia Seeall: The library system can improve for their patrons. Please add fax machines to your services allowed! Make sure vagrants are monitored because a difficult situation can occur for patrons if these people can choose to attack.

Yolanda Mendieta: Is excellent place for everybody, very secure with cameras, police, quiet place and they help a lot to the kids servings tutoring, books advisers, very nice and educated people I am being around this place with my kids for more than 13 years....I CAN SAY THIS IS MY SECOND HOUSE FOR MY AND MY KIDS, plus the library is located in the heart of downtown with all access transportation around you. CAME IS FUN WITH A LOT ACTIVITY AROUND.

J C: Great staff, helpful too. This library is spacious and filed with lots of resources. Only suggestion is their hours should be until 8 like the sister branches.

Alexander Burg: Beautiful public library in downtown Miami. Very quite place. The libraríans are very helpful too.

Carlos René Cruz: I loved my experience at the library. I just moved to Miami a year ago and when I discovered the great options that the library offers to the users I was gagging. You can borrow 30 books at the same if you want and take them home with you! They have a big selection of books, documents, newspapers, magazines and more, in several languages, as Miami is. You can access to the technology sources with laptops, computers, iPads and projectors if you need them. The place is quiet, big enough to have your own space and navigates between all the universes of the books that you have on hand with them. You just have to create an account and They will give you access to all you need. And the BEST.....Everything is FREE! 💓

Nata H.: Very big library with lots of choice. Very big Spanish department and classic books from international writers. Big department for kids and teens. They even gave lunch (some sandwiches I guess) for free when we were there. Only negative that there are too many homeless people..

Beverley McKenzie: They are very helpful at the Library. Whenever you need to know anything about the computer, the scanner, the printer, how to use the computer etc , they are always very helpful & co- operative. It is a pleasure going to the Library. These people that work there are committed.

Avi Haller: Kendall Library. The place is clean and wonderful, but a lot of noise, people speak by cell phones inside the library, Some employees speak in high voice all the time and disturbing the quiet environment. It will be wonderful if somebody show the employees the good manners to be in a library.

West Flagler Branch Library: what do users think?

Carlos Nethersole: A big and noisy staff in a small facility. They should close their office door so we dont see thru and we dont hear whatever they say. Again they should reduce the staff. Too many ppl. Reduce the noise, increase the productivity. Lets go brandon. This is a library. Sshhhh

Dave Salmon: I went there on September 17, 2020.Nice location. To get there, take the 11 bus to 50 Ave.

Harold Del Risco: Great place to use the internet! This branch is a big help for my internet needs. The staff is very helpful and understanding. Very pleasant environment. Love this Library!

Mike Vietz: Funny how the staff all seem to step out of the office from deep sleep. A stank attitude by the dark hair medium length veteran librarian looking lady. I don’t understand why the cleaning lady which do not do much all day- she also lounges/sleep in the office- has a shift from opening to 10pm. Shouldn’t 4hr overnight suffice, and light cleaning if necessary during the day by the rest? What a waste of taxpayer money...

Mike Vietz: Why a staff of 6 people for such a small location? Are tax payers footing the bill for this??? Otherwise, great location, very quiet. Not many patrons during the couple of days I spent here. The 2 guys and short lady with red tshirt seem bored and pay a bit too much attention to people trying to get stuff done. At least in my case. Maybe the wandering eye from female patrons makes them jealous.

Wendy James: Windows 10 and clean new Computers.Intelligent and Knowledgeable Librarians; Contributing and Participating in your Community Development is important.

Roberto Vizcon: Very nice library branch. Pleasant surroundings. Helpful staff. Plenty of computers on site. Nice unisex bathrooms. Plenty of parking.

A R: Excellent service, employees very helpfull and nice. Good experience.

Dave Salmon: I went there on July 16, 2020. To get there, take the 8 bus to SW 64 Ave. This is the only library located in West Miami.

Arturo F: Internet speed was awful while using WI-FI, less than 5MBPS, I had difficulty measuring its speed. I could not even ping at times. Staff is great, but wew, I had to go to a Starbucks to use WI-FI.

Jany Lopez: Best library in town ☺️

Maria Rodriguez-Larrain: They are very welcoming! And the have opened their doors for our book club meetings.

Vanessa Bl: love this library and the staff that work there are very helpful :)

Peter Dominguez: Great to study compared to Starbucks and Barnes & Noble

Dave Salmon: I went there on July 2, 2020. Nice area. Nearby is Miami City Hall. To get to the library you can take the Miami Trolley Brickell route and get off at Miami City Hall and then walk west on S Bayshore Drive to McFarlane Rd. Make a right and the library is on the right. You can also take the 22 bus to S Bayshore Drive and Pan American Drive.

Oscar Picon: Krystle is the only person that has librarian knowledge. Please give her help in this branch. She make the experience much easier for parents

srb howell: An awesome branch. Small but very typical of quaint Coconut Grove architecture. Rather like a treehouse, with a veranda that appears to go almost all the way around. Inside there are windows and louvers that surround and vegetation beyond. My kids call it the lizard library... But fear not, all the lizards are outside enjoying the fresh air.

Walter Guzman: Wonderful Place

Arcola Lakes Branch Library: what do users think?

Elizabeth Myguguleboo 0.o: Sometimes there are many homeless people laying around the entire front of this library. Makes for safety and health issues. Other than this it is an OK library.

Dave Salmon: I went there on June 30, 2020. To get there, take the 77 bus to NW 82 St.

garcia beckford: The person at Customer care was very Nice 👍

Larncy Rolle: Exceptional except for 1 time one of the new staff was not customer oriented. All other visits has been very courteous and professional. I also am excited about the new application where you can go on line and from your e-mail you can send documents to the printer and just go into the branch and print the documents that was sent via e-mail. Great job, way to go Miami Dade Library staff. Things are improving and it shows.

Frannie Dee: Very courteous staff, even the security guard who shushed me when I was talking too loud, just like when we were taught to behave in school. They make sure masks are kept up.

Greg McClendon: I noticed how well one of the Branch employees handled herself when dealing with a patron who did not know what a password, ID, nor email address was and wanted to sign up to work at a polling booth. Kudos to that young woman!

Lawrence Tyler: Very helpful staff. Clean environment, and I highly recommend this library.

D R: Quiet, clean, available seating/ parking, wide selection of books for adults/kids.

Govinda Ghimire: Amazing place for kids and parents as well. Tons of books and activities. I can’t thank enough to the staffs.

Dave Salmon: The first time I went there was on September 16, 2020. I went there again on April 18, 2022 two years later. To get there, take the 8 or 24 bus to either the SW 97 Ave stop or the SW 93 Ct stop.

DinoTheArtworks: I am a big fan of MDPLS ever since I’ve been attending their online events back in December of last year. I decided to explore the libraries and this was one of them to explore. First of all, it is very big on the outside and inside. There is a first and second floor and as soon as you entered, the desk was to your left. The first floor was with study rooms and a large variety of books. Also, a vending machine. Everything was pretty quiet most of the time. The second floor was the same thing except there is a kids playing area and no vending machines. I went here a while ago so my review on how the library looks may be not accurate. The staff was nice and checked out my books without any problems. I said bye and went out the door happy. Recommend if you’re near the area and is either a bookworm or big fan of MDPLS like me.

LM: It is always wonderful to go there, the smell of books, the cleanliness, the organization. Now after the coronavirus you have to keep your distance and wear a mask all the time. The ground floor is literature for adults and the second floor for children. When the schools run the groups it is a bit uncomfortable to concentrate with the children. There is a vending machine with soft drinks and water and snacks. Membership is wonderful, free, you register and they give you your card to take the books free for 30 days. It is always pleasant to go there.

H O: The building is awesome. Variety of content. Old and clean. including the bathrooms upstairs. My only complaint is they need to have a responsible for kids area. Beacuse adult visitor bring kids and let them act like in a park. jumping, screaming, running. If they made people respect each other inside kids area. Can be perfect place to study.

Hispanic Branch Library: what do users think?

Misael Soto: Terrible service. Missing the amazing attention we used to get years ago at the old place (22 avenue) Moved close recently and tried several times and regardless the day and hours l was treated NOT like a long time Miami taxpayer, for City/County employees, whose salaries are coming partially from my paycheck. Despondent treatment, condescending, bad attitude(yes, that old lady behind the counter) I was addressed as a pariah, someone who don’t belong at the Public Library when I’m just a longtime City of Miami resident. I’ll repeat: it happened each and every single time I’ve paid a visit to Spanish Branch, which made me think feeling mistreated and unwelcome is a systemic issue.

Alexander Molina: They are really nice every time I go they always try to help u and is very clean even the security guy is cool I like it thanks for the staff

Monica Martinez: If you’re looking for a quiet place to study, this is not the place. You can watch movies without headphones, laugh as loud as you can and have your phone on loud. More like a place to chill.

Johanny Reyes: Ample parking. Staff and guest are too loud, no consideration towards others. Staff makes a lot of noise when arranging books/movies.

Yu Ma: In the ground floor, you can experience great time to have a group study. On the second floor, it is quiet and super nice to have a self study day.

Robert Barnett: Great library for research and study.Has a much better academic feel than FIU.UM is a better academic University than FIU.Student body at UM is more focused on academics

Wei Ren: good environment

Chu Don: Best places for studying and reviewing on pre-exam night!

City of North Miami Public Library: what do users think?

Lulu G: If you want a quiet place to study this isn’t the place. I’m studying for my broads test and it does matter what day or time I come there’s always noise. It doesn’t matter what part of the library you sit someone is always making noise.

Gwen Kunkel: This was my first time here. We recently moved to the area so I needed to get a new library card. The librarian was so kind and helpful. He explained to me the difference between the county and municipal libraries and helped me check out 4 books. They didn’t have the series that my fiancé is reading, so he ordered them all and is going to reach out when they come in! I highly recommend going here if you live in the area. All of the staff were professional and friendly. They do have limited hours currently because of Covid: 11-5 M-F.

mary-kate Sullivan: Although new to this library, from the moment I walked in I felt welcomed and surrounded by all good things a library offers. And it is directly across from North Miami High school! What an opportunity for those students (and teachers)!Happy reading and researching, online or off.MK Sullivan

Dark Lord Davi: Literally the worst library I have ever been to in my entire life. There’s a school across the street and once class ends kids/teens come and cause absolute CHAOS!!!!! It is almost impossible for me to study, read, or even pay attention due to the amount of noise. Security does absolutely nothing about the HORRIBLE behavior of the student that don’t even use the libraries resources!!!! Only come during weekends/summer break/ or when school is in session that is the ONLY time when this Library is stable.

SincerelyShey: Okay I know these ratings are straight lies. Realistically speaking this library is very very very loud due to the amount of teenagers soliciting there. Yes they are soliciting because they are not in the library for its resources. They just sit around and talking, yelling, running, cussing, horseplaying everywhere. I’m at this library at least 3 times a week and the kids are always there making noise. Security does nothing and staff does nothing. Kick them out PLEASE. On top of that, security says NOTHING to these kids that are shouting cuss words and making this a very uncomfortable environment but you better believe he will correct everyone one sitting awkwardly in a chair. Like this dude waves at the kids as they’re terrorizing the library. What kind of library is this? Shut it down.

Cher Pie: The staff is very nice and is ready to help with whatever the questions one may have. The library itself is clean, plenty of books to choose from. The only thing is, it can get loud at some point when I’m trying to study and get some work done. I want somewhere that I can study with peace and quiet, that would be really... after all, it is a library. 🤦🏾‍♀️🙄

Frannie Dee: Nov.2020 Covid-19 hours are still Monday through Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. wonderful staff. Very helpful. Automatic temperature check upon entry and hand sanitizer right up front. 30 computers available but only 15 in use for social distancing.

Pinecrest Branch Library: what do users think?

Your Helpful Wendy: This is going to be one of my two favorite public library. First of all is located in an area that I love which is Pinecrest and the parking was free, you know how much I love that! Second the service was fantastic everyone helped me and I feel super nice working there. And third, this library was very organized and I was able to work on the computer and then print as I usually do.

Shaunterria Owens: A beautiful place to work, with a gorgeous tree-lined parking lot and plenty of spaces (except for event days, get there early because parking may be scarce). The interior is well-lit and peaceful, even when buzzing with activity. One of busiest libraries in the Miami-Dade system and for good reason.

Kevin Harris: Great place to do some research and get a quick workout!

Zamir Iqbal: The best library in Miami... Excellent park and restaurant also within same complex

Dave Salmon: I went there on August 31, 2020. To get there, take the 57 bus to SW 59 Ave and walk east 440 feet to the library. The library is on the left.

Antonio B: Excellent Service! The librarians went above and beyond to help me out!

latinxduchess: Clean and has a good selection of books and movies. The chairs are not terribly comfortable for long term studying. The chairs are basic wood chairs with no support. Also, as has been mentioned plenty of times, it’s hard to get work done here without headphones to block out the sounds of the children running and screaming in the library. Also the main seating section is used as a private tutoring area in the afternoons so the area isn’t conducive for studying or reading with all the noise.

Scheznarda Nino: It is a super cool library, there r very cool book for kids and adults and there r Spanish books too and i love that I think it is super cool library.

Jennifer VanDerBas: Most amazing library I have ever been to. Charlotte and Brian are the most compassionate humans I have ever met!

Toni Locs: Anyone (homeless) can go to the library to read and educate themselves. There is nothing wrong with that.

Jeile Marie: Miami Beach regional library is a part of the online ordering books system. You can pull books from across the county if you are a resident of Miami Beach and registered with an account. During the week and day it is crowded and hard to find a chair to read.

Dave Salmon: I went there on August 6, 2020. It is located next to Collins Park. To get there, take the S or 120 bus to 22 St.

Siarhei Losik: Only few computers available. Everything taken by homeless people. Game room. No power outlets for personal laptops. Personal rude and aggressive. They can easy rearrange tables and put plastic shields between. Too lazy.

Melissa: Such an awesome place. Big beautiful library, with fantastic, friendly librarians. Highly recommend!

Eurostar Namastar: Aside homeless and at times loud talking....this is a good building and good services....there are private rooms for quiet research, special events ....and every book available free or can be ordered! Still a great place to get a personnel education on any subject!

Dade County Law Library: what do users think?

George Odell: Very unfortunate that a large county such as Dade has such a poorly run law library. I would like to see this library moved into the public library where they have a good staff of service oriented professionals well equipped to assist the public.

GIGI Petit: I just encountered the worse customer service in my entire life, I was referred to the law library but a clerk in the civil office. I get upstairs and simply explain what I need, the front receptionist when in a book and started mumbling something and when I asked her to repeat it, she said maybe cause you wasn’t listening. Then threw the paper at me and said make copies and it’s 0.50 cents. I said well what paper is this cause she already said it but chose not repeat it, she that’s the paper go print it and it’s 0.50. I said well there is no need to be rude, I simply asked what is the paper. She said read, read the name, I asked how do I know if this the right paper? She said read it’s the right paper, another young lady comes to the front saying what’s the situation here. Didn’t even wait for my explanation she calls someone and say we have a situation and walks off. Now here come another lady with dreads asking what happen, while explaining she said well whoever told you that they are wrong we do not assist you with anything you are here to do research. Which is okay, it’s a library, if you can’t help me let me know you do not know what I am in need of and simply let me go find what I need. Instead this lady walked me down stairs to the office and tried to confront the clerk meanwhile she totally ignored when I said the lady was being rude and threw the forms at me. When all was said and done and the clerk supervisor came for support she informed me of the form I needed and in fact was the incorrect form the lady offered. It could have been a simple, I’m sorry we don’t assist with form, you are more than welcome to look around to see if you can find it and make copies. I would have went to my second option, I had my baby sleeping in my hand and was not going to walk the whole Library. If you are working with people, your customer service skills should be amazing, especially if you are working and getting paid by the government. I work for a company that see at least 800 customers a day and a partner speak to a customer as such yes it would be your last day. With that being said do not waste your time going to that office, it has an order and look exactly as the ladies attitude nasty.

Nicholas Porras: I have been coming to the Miami Dade County law library for years. The staff is great, I always feel like they are steering me in the right direction, it is like having a top notch legal assistant free of charge. Natasha especially has given me a great deal of help at the west law terminals. The best library in the coounty!

Arlene Belizaire: The staff at this library is always welcoming. If I have any questions, the lady will not only give me an answer but she will help me find what I need. Customer service like this is what makes me keep going back!

Andre Pierre: I would like to thank the library director for being helpful, tactful and brilliant --all at the same time! She brought the library to new heights. Her staff is very professional and courteous.

S. Dulcio Florals & Design: I had one of the best experiences at the Law Library recently. The woman who helped me as knowledgeable and kind. She could tell I didn’t know what I was looking for but was able to guide me by asking the right questions.

Maria A.: I used to visit this library on a regular basis and many of the library staff (librarians) here were very rude to me. The only nice one I remember was the former Head Librarian who left to pursue a career in Country Music.

Rose M Darbouze: It was a pleasure for me to visit the building 175 todaycustomer service was excellent. The probate lady was very helpful.

Dafinie Garcon: For a library, I had a great experience. The staff was exceptional. Thank you for your service!

Patty da Luna: The weather was very good .Many prizes.I won a raffle.Happy day🤗

Maria Cristina Oria: Hispanic celebration at the library was a lot of fun. Beautiful activity .

Ninja Monkey: Such a great library that has inspired me to become an avid reader again. A great selection of books with nice comfy couch style chairs to sit and read. The staff is so nice and helpful, I really couldn’t ask for more from my local library. Thank you!

Leah Lamou: I met Yolette at the library. She’s a superstar. She was so patient and helpful, always put a smile on her face when assisting you. She’s an asset for that place. I will gladly go back

Robert Montoya: Clean and quiet and the staff is friendly.I am specifically looking for computers to use and the ones here are outdated but good for small simple task.

Roxana Quispe: It is not often that we find people who really offer their time to help. One afternoon, we found a nice lady, working in the front desk, who was eager to help. In fact, all the librarians who work there are kind and helpful .

grace marinaro: Only place I know in FL still enforcing a strict mandatory mask policy even for those who have been vaccinated. Rude condescending security guard at the front door saying ‘can’t you read the sign’

Law Library: what do users think?

Jobel Anthony Cabezas: Terrible sad excuse for a law library. For it size feels small/cramped, old and moldy air. I normally end up going to the FIU law library instead.

Chavely Ortega: The best library !!!

South Miami Branch Library: what do users think?

Dave Salmon: I went there on September 2, 2020. Great location. To get there, take the Metrorail train to the South Miami Station. You can also take the 37, 57, or the 72 bus to the South Miami Metrorail station.

Jennifer Olmsted: In early 2000, I read at different times of each Month for about 4 non-consecutive Years, an important book to me. It was an Atlas of the World book, written by DK. I had the opportunity to read a book that helped me in Geography. Now, I in a Year am going to look for part-time employment as a dog walker, and tomorrow am going to bring in my own book to the Library that I bought at a local bookstore called Dogs for Dummies, by Eve Adamson. And read about a chapter or section a day during the week.

Doreen Sino: South Miami Library is nice place to do a little research, reading. Staff is so helpful.

Logan Wright: Not being a fan of large crowds or large libraries South Miami is my go to branch. It’s a great place to study. Staff is efficient and courteous. Also, it’s one of the few branches I’ve seen with a separate foreign film collection. This is an extra special treat for film buffs :)

Anupam Singh Chauhan: It is a good library overall. Near the metro station. Stays open on Saturdays unlike other libraries. But it has one small problem. The people who were here, when I was there, were not so silent like they are supposed to be. Most of the time they were quiet but there were bouts of noises. Oh and they don’t whisper while talking. And since it’s a public library you don’t need to be a member to study here.

Amy: Love that #UrbanOasisProject is running a new farmers market there Saturdays from 9-2...and they double SNAP dollars! #UOPmarkets #SMFM

van bethea: Valarie was very nice she help me very much.she made my vist a very good one

Jarrel O'donoghue: Great calm quick simple place to get your public library fix.

eric lingswiler: Fantastic staff, very friendly and helpful. A wonderful library.
