Area Stage Company (ASC), established in 1989, is an award-winning professional theatre company that stages provocative, world-class theatre productions. Founded by John and Maria Rodaz in Miami Beach, the company began as one of the pioneers of the Miami Beach arts community that surged in the 1980’s on Lincoln Road. Since its inception, ASC has presented a mix of contemporary and classic plays, world premieres, and immersive theatrical experiences, quickly “changing the perception and standards of what South Florida's theatres can and should be,” according to the Sun-Sentinel, which described the organization as “one of the most influential theatres in the region.”

In 2008, ASC moved into the beautiful Riviera Theatre in Coral Gables, a dream come true and an opportunity for the company to reinvent itself. With a reimagined mission and vision, the company established a professional-level conservatory program in addition to maintaining a full season of professional productions, concerts, and community events.

In 2020, we moved to The Shops at Sunset Place. Our new headquarters, built from the ground up for our needs, hosts state-of-the-art dance and voice studios and a black box theatre. In 2021, ASC began a new partnership with the Adrienne Arsht Center, and is looking forward to present at other venues in South Florida.

The most prolific and celebrated improv theatre company in Miami, Just The Funny’s cast of comedic actors presents interactive shows every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night starting at 8:00 pm, featuring sketches, parodies, music, hip hop and improvised scenes, including everything from “Whose Line is it Anyway” to “Chicago-style” long-form improv, and it’s all based on YOUR suggestions!

The Just The Funny Theater is located at 3119 Coral Way in Miami (just 6 blocks East of Miracle Mile), and features three stages, from our 90+ seat Mainstage theater, to our intimate cabaret-style lounge, The Spotlight, to our avant-garde black box theater the Peacock Room.
